From mugshot to photo shoot! Jeremy Meeks, the convicted felon whose swoon-worthy mugshot went viral last month, may be sticking around for a while. According to Page Six, the "hot mugshot guy" has hired former porn star-turned-publicist Gina Rodriguez to be his agent. Meeks, however, will not be joining the adult-entertainment business despite recently receiving a $100,000 offer.

"We are by no means considering any type of porn offer," Rodriguez told Page Six. "Our plan is to brand Jeremy as a high- fashion model and to get him a reality-TV show to follow his foray into modeling."

Meeks, 30, became an internet sensation after California's Stockton Police Department posted his mugshot on its Facebook page on June 18. At the time, he and four others were arrested in a gang-related bust.

"Well I appreciate [the attention]," Meeks told reporters while in jail on June 19. "But I just want them to know that this is really not me, I'm not some kingpin." (Meeks is married and father to a 3-year-old son.)

Meeks' wife, however, hasn't responded as well to the hoopla surrounding her husband. "I wouldn't be surprised if you don’t see her at all in the cameras, because she's upset," family friend Simone Johnson told CBS13. "She's furious. Her man is in there and people are taking it as a joke, thinking it's funny talking about his looks, saying all kinds of crazy things."

The 31-year-old actor was drinking at Katy Trail Ice House for four hours during the Fourth of July holiday before leaving without paying his tab, the site reports. When stopped by a security guard, Short reportedly accused the employee of racism and a fight ensued. The former ABC star was then arrested for public intoxication and taken to jail.
The incident comes just weeks after Short was ordered to pay $21,000 in spousal support and child support to his estranged wife Tanee Short. Columbus was charged with a misdemeanor spousal battery on Valentine's Day. Tanee filed a restraining order immediately following that incident. Columbus was charged with criminal domestic violence and child abuse (their 2-year-old daughter and Columbus’ son were also in the house when the event allegedly happened). Tanee filed for divorce in April. The pair share a 2-year-old daughter.

Neymar ruled out of World Cup with fractured vertebrae

Luiz Felipe Scolari last night angrily claimed that Neymar had been “hunted” out of the World Cup after it was confirmed that Brazil’s star player has suffered a fractured vertebra and will miss the rest of the competition.

A knee in the back by Colombia’s Juan Zuniga ended Neymar’s match in the 88th minute and, following checks at a local hospital in Fortaleza, the prognosis was bleak.

“Neymar has a broken vertebra — he’s expected to be out for four to six weeks,” Brazil team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar told SportTV.

Brazil’s players were quick to come to the support of their colleague but were last night describing the challenge by Zuniga as careless rather than malicious.

'We have always looked up to him as a role model with him being a Muslim and successful. It is going to cause tension in the community.
'He is a world champion, an adult, the people involved are aged 19.'
A woman, who also did not want to be named, added: 'I could hear a lot of noise and I saw Amir's car. Then I saw him get out of the car.

Nigerian Films & Videos Censors Boards Finally Approves 'Half Of A Yellow Sun'

Get ready to buy that popcorn, because One of the most-awaited films of this year in Nigeria "Half of a Yellow Sun" has been finally approved by the Nigerian Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB).

According to Premium Times, it was made known on Friday. The movie, which had been previously banned over partially taking place during the Biafran War, will be allowed to watch only by those 18 of age.

This movie, along with more than 70 other Nollywood films was tagged "18 and above" by the censorship board.

It would be recalled that the story with ban of "Half of a Yellow Sun" caused mass disappointment with the decision. Specifically, by the novel author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, who characterized the move as "absurd".

Months after the controversies surrounding the novel-based film, it was finally approved as the one "fulfilling the regulatory conditions stipulated by the NFVCB".

Hi-Five Singer, Russell Neal, Charged With Murder After His Wife Found Dead in Their Apartment

 

Russell Neal, a singer in the 1990s R&B group Hi-Five, is facing murder charges in connection with the death of his wife, Catherine Martinez, local news in Houston, Tex., reported Friday, July 4.

Neal, 40 -- whose group had a No. 1 hit in 1991 with "I Like the Way (The Kissing Game)" -- was arrested on July 3 when he reportedly walked into a Harris County Sheriff's Office station and said that his wife was dead inside their apartment in west Houston. He then apparently asked for a lawyer.

Investigators told local news KHOU that Martinez, 24, suffered multiple stab wounds and blunt force trauma. According to TMZ, Neal is now being held in jail on a $100K bond.

Neighbors said the couple -- who have two young kids -- seemed, for the most part, "happy" before the incident. One told KHOU that Neal was "a great father."?

[PHOTOS] Shia LaBeouf 'checks in to rehab in Los Angeles' following his arrest

Former transformers star Shia LaBeouf got back to Los Angeles on Monday, he allegedly checked into a Hollywood rehab facility, X17 reports.

Photographers for the agency followed him from his home to the facility and said: 'Shia was nervous; he didn't look good all morning. He was looking down and wasn't even talking to his driver. It didn't look like he wanted to do it but he knew he had to.'

He was arrested last week for disruptive behaviour during a performance of Cabaret for allegedly slapping actors, smoking inside and yelling obscenities.

STRANGE! Man stabs self to death over disagreement with lover

 We live in a strange world where anything is possible, i saw this on vanguard news and thought to share.

According to the source:
A 33-year-old-man, Oluwatosin Otaiku, last weekend, allegedly  stabbed himself to death over disagreement with his fiancee, identified as Olaogun Oluwatoyin.

Vanguard gathered that the deceased decided to kill himself few weeks  after he was told by his girlfriend that she was no more interested in the relationship.

It was further gathered that the deceased’s neighbours, who were aware of the development, reportedly  called the warring parties to break the  truce and resolve the disagreement.

An eyewitness had it that the duo were made to discuss in privacy inside a shop at Safari junction in Onikolobo not suspecting that the deceased came to the venue with a knife in case the outcome went against him.

It was further gathered that Oluwatoyin  stood her ground, maintaining that she couldn’t continue with the relationship.

The deceased reportedly brought out the knife which forced Olaogun to storm out of the shop thinking she was the target.

Olaogun immediately alerted neighbours who rushed to the scene and met the deceased stabbing himself.

He was rushed to Mercy Hospital, Panseke before he was later referred to Federal Medical Centre, FMC, Idi-Aba  in Abeokuta but he  died on the way to the hospital.

Policemen from Adigbe Division, who were drafted to the scene for investigation, took the remains of Otaiku to State Hospital, Ijaye and whisked three persons  away in an Hilux van marked NPF 7092 C.

Reacting to the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed that the police were  still holding Olaogun until a postmortem examination is carried out on the deceased.

Adejobi  explained that the command was still examining the statements by the suspects and eyewitnesses.
He said: “The lady is still with us, she is still our suspect for now until we carried out a proper investigation on the corpse. We need some time to study the statements but the expert’s opinion is to carry out a postmortem on the body.”

Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi hit out at American referee Mark Geiger after his side lost 2-0 to France in the World Cup last 16 in Brasilia on Monday.

“The referee is a human being and is bound to make mistakes, but a lot of mistakes is questionable,” Keshi told his post-match press conference at the Mane Garrincha National Stadium. “I’m not happy with the officiating.”

Keshi was aggrieved that Emmanuel Emenike had a first-half goal ruled out for offside, although replays suggested the call was correct, and also felt France had been allowed to get away with some over-zealous tackling

Blaise Matuidi was only booked for an ugly challenge on Ogenyi Onazi that ended the Nigerian midfielder’s game, while Olivier Giroud escaped punishment after catching John Mikel Obi with his elbow.

“On two occasions Onazi received very bad tackles and nothing was done about it. He is out now probably for weeks,” Keshi added.

“This is the first time I’ve spoken about the referee in my life, because it wasn’t good.”

France prevailed through a 79th-minute Paul Pogba header and an injury-time own goal by Joseph Yobo, and will face either Germany or Algeria in the quarter-finals.

A man who stole £3,500 of charity money from his terminally ill daughter has been jailed.

Ashanti Elliott-Smith, 11, suffers from a rare disease that makes her look 80 and will likely not live past 15.

She was given the donation from Sussex British Motorcycle Owners Club (SBMOC) in 2010 so she could go for a once-in-a-lifetime trip to swim with dolphins.

But her father Albi Elliott, 44, hid the money from the rest of the family and within two months had spent it - on trips to Tesco.

Blasting his actions as 'callous and despicably devious', the judge at Chichester Crown Court jailed Elliott for three years.

The court heard Ashanti, who has Hutchinson-Gildford Progeria, was selected by her local biking club in West Sussex to receive a year's worth of charity money to go on her dream holiday.

At every event she attended, she was accompanied by her father Elliott, who claimed her mother Phoebe Smith, his ex, was ill or busy.

When they were finally presented with the money in December 2010 he told organisers to put the cheque in his name to book the trip.

But two months later, Ashanti and her mother attended an event at the club - and when organisers mentioned the money, she knew nothing about it.

Distraught, Ms Smith told The Sun: 'Knowing he stole from her killed me inside. To me it's the same as abuse, and it's heartbreaking for Ashanti to know he has ruined her wish.'

Defending his actions, Elliott told the jury he was saving the money in his mother's safe for Ashanti's funeral.

Keshi: Eagles can make history today

According to Vanguard news,
Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi says a place in the quarter-final should take precedence over his record as the first African to lead an African team to the second round at the FIFA World Cup.

Last year he became the first black African coach to have won the Africa Cup of Nations in 21 years, and last Wednesday he helped Nigeria secure a place in the round of 16 at Brazil 2014.

The former Nigeria captain said. “For me, my team and country come before any personal glory.

“That we made the second round and are able to achieve this against all odds is all that matters.”

There have been suggestions in some quarters that Keshi’s achievement in winning the Nations Cup and taking his team to the knock-out stages has not been given the value it should by the international media.

“What is important is to focus on what lies ahead – not Stephen Keshi and his record,” Keshi said.

Nigeria will face France for only the second time at senior level on Monday in Brasilia.

In their previous clash, the Super Eagles beat France 1-0 in a friendly in Saint Etienne in June 2009, but Keshi says it will be a different ball game against the French as Nigeria aim to equal Africa’s all time best.

Cameroon, Senegal and Ghana have all reached the quarterfinals in 1990, 2002 and 2010 respectively.

“We are not bothered about the past but only interested in this present day,” Keshi added.

“My boys know what I expect and our opponents will not make life easy for them.

“The Super Eagles have never made it to the quarterfinals so they can make history of their own.

“There’s no motivation bigger than that.”

Keshi is one of only two men who has won the Nations Cup as a player and a coach – the other being Egypt’s Mahmoud El-Gohary.

In 1994 Keshi captained the Super Eagles to their second continental success in Tunisia and 19 years later he was in charge of the side as they won the trophy for the third time in their history in South Africa.

He also led Togo to their first – and to date only – appearance at the World Cup finals, but was sacked a few months before Germany 2006. He is the only African coach to have qualified two nations to the World Cup tournament.

Zendaya Won't Play Aaliyah in Lifetime Television Movie Anymore

 
Remeber i said it some time ago that disney star zendaya was to play Aaliyah in a movie, well now she pulled out.
According to E news, Lifetime Television said in a statement on Twitter, "We are sad Zendaya will no longer portray Aaliyah.  Production is currently on hold."

Disney Channel star and singer Zendaya will not play Aaliyah in a Lifetime Television movie after all.

A rep for the 17-year-old actress told E! News exclusively on Sunday, June 29, that "Zendaya is no longer involved in the project." Lifetime had announced her casting in the biopic on June 16.

A source told E! News that there were production issues, including problems obtaining the rights to Aaliyah's music. The R&B star and Queen of the Damned actress died at age 22 in a plane crash on Aug. 25, 2001.

"Aaliyah has always been an inspiration to Zendaya," the source said. "She was honored to portray her and pay tribute to her. If she is going to do it, she wants to do it right."

Lifetime had said that the tentative title of the movie was Aaliyah: Princess of R&B and that the biopic will be based off of Christopher Farley's best-selling biography Aaliyah: More Than a Woman. The project  was set to begin filming in the summer and air this fall.

The movie depicts Aaliya's life and career, from her debut on Star Search to her rise to fame and, finally, her tragic passing, which shocked the world. Scores of fans pay tribute to her online, especially on Twitter, on the anniversary of her death.

Zendaya, whose full name is Zendaya Coleman and who has a massive online fan following, played Rocky Blue on the Disney Channel series Shake It Up! between 2010 and 2013. That final year, she also competed on Dancing With The Stars. On Friday, the Disney Channel aired her latest project, the movie Zapped, which drew 5.7 million viewers. She can be seen next in the channel's new series, KC Undercover, which she also co-produced and which is expected to premiere in 2015.

Zendaya was this year nominated for her first BET Award—the YoungStar Award. She is set to attend the 2014 BET Awards, which airs live on Sunday at 8 p.m. ET.
