5 Biggest Stunners at the 2014 Oscars

The Golden Globes are the booze-fueled party. The SAG Awards are the back-patting peer review. The Grammys are the multigenerational artists' fest with an emphasis on freaky fashion.
And the Oscars are...glamorous. Prestigious. Hollywood's Super Bowl. They're so high-brow they even have a reputation for being staid! (Not to mention long...)
So thank goodness Ellen DeGeneres is so great and stars like Jennifer Lawrence have come along to proverbially knock us on our butts by literally falling on hers. Because on a night when nearly everything goes according to plan, it's important to have a few moments of refreshing candor to go along with the carefully orchestrated homage to film.

The first-time Oscar nominee looked ethereal in a light blue silk Prada gown with crystal-embellished pleats and a deep v-neck. She finished the look with platform sandals and clutch, also by Prada. Nyong’o added dazzle with Fred Leighton jewels, including a gold and diamond headband.

Dbanj is still with GOOD music says his manager

D’banj‘s manager, Tony Nwakalor (shown in the picture above with dbanj), has said that his artiste is still with American rapper, Kanye West’s G.O.O.D music label.
On Monday, February 24, 2014, D’Banj’s Twitter bio was edited and ‘G.O.O.D Music’ was removed from it, which prompted people to speculate that D’banj had parted ways with Kanye West.
After being initially mute on the matter, D’banj’s manager recently told Punch that the rumours were untrue, saying, ‘It is a lie that D’banj has left G.O.O.D music. He changed his bio on his twitter account and people started forming all sorts of story. He is still with Kanye West.’
In spite of his denial, many will not be easily swayed until there’s a good explanation as to why ‘G.O.O.D Music’ was removed from the artiste’s Twitter bio.

Before you people start, let me explain. Lol. Yes I did see all your comments about me not getting involved in the 'Wendell Simlin' scandal. I didn't write anything about it because it was an accusation which could be true or false and I just refused to be pressured. I decided to leave it alone until Mr Reno reacts to it but he never did... so...:-). Anyway, here's another piece written by him...

Increasingly, Social Media status is depending on how many friends you have on Facebook or how many followers you have on Twitter and so much investment goes into this because many derive their sense of self worth from these numbers. 

Sophisticated users of Social Media have wised up to the fact that followership grows when you diss (excuse my colloquial) authority figures such as government leaders and other leaders in society.

Now, where many on Social Media are faced with a choice of speaking their minds or speaking what is likely to be popular, many cannot resist the pressure to play to the gallery. 

This behavior is very contagious and many youths simply conform and lose their personality to the crowd. And it is not just youths. Increasingly, we are seeing elders, even those who might have been elder statesmen, kowtow to much younger Social Media overlords. 

What is happening here is very subtle but very real. In the New Testament, satan showed Christ all the kingdoms of the world and their glory and said to Him in Matthew 4:9 "all this I will give you, if you will bow down and worship me."

Today, many overlords are presenting a large following to Social Media adherents in Nigeria and saying 'all this I will give to you if your subsume your opinion to mine'!

And what makes a person an overlord? The answer is of course Social Media followership.

Social Media was created to influence the real world, however, it was not meant to be an alternative to the real world. But increasingly we are seeing that what you might call a cabal has formed in the Nigerian Social Media space and I, for one have experienced first-hand where members of this cabal have invested so much on their Social Media personalities that they have detached themselves from the real world.

Footballer Nwankwo Kanu undergoes heart surgery for the 2nd time

According to the Vanguard the founder of  Kanu Heart Foundation, KHF,Nwankwo Kanu at the weekend underwent a corrective heart surgery at the Cleveland Hospital , Ohio, USA
The surgery was carried out during one of his normal yearly routine medical checks at the hospital following the 1997 heart surgery at the same hospital.
Co-ordinator of the Kanu Heart Foundation, Pastor Onyebuchi Abia confirmed the success of the surgery adding that the former Super Eagles captain has since left the intensive care unit, ICU, of the hospital and is recuperating in the hosptal.
“He’ll be back home in a few days time’’, Abia said in a statement.I spoke with him Sunday afternoon and he confirmed he’s in a stable condition

Ed Westwick Talks GOSSIP GIRL Costar Leighton Meester's Surprise Wedding: "I Wish Her the Best"

Chuck Bass has finally let Blair Waldorf go. After six seasons of professing his love for Leighton Meester on television, Gossip Girl costar Ed Westwick had nothing but kind words for his on-screen love interest after her secret wedding to O.C. star Adam Brody.

Westwick, 26, attended the GREAT British Film Reception in Hancock Park on March 1, where he told Us Weekly that he sent Meester, 27, a congratulatory text upon hearing the news of her marriage.

First Ray J, then The Game. Kim Kardashian must really hit it HARD

According to a report by TMZ, The Game subtly rapped about banging Kim Kardashian a while ago.
"The Game didn't outright say he boinked Kim Kardashian back in the day ... but he did rap about it on a song with ray j called I HIT IT FIRST.
TMZ obtained an early demo of Ray J's infamous song ... turns out Game was originally featured on the track -- and it sounds like he's rapping about hooking up with Kim.
Game is cryptic with his XXX lyrics -- but makes reference to her store "Dash" ... and says he'll show people how to really "drive that ghost" (seemingly talking about Kim's Rolls Royce Ghost.) He also raps about getting oral sex from someone in a private jet. All signs definitely point to sex." TMZ reports

2014 Razzie Awards: Kim Kardashian, Will Smith and Jaden Smith Take home the major awards

As we celebrate the top achievements in film this time of year, it's also tradition to bestow some awards to the worst.
The 34th Annual Razzie Awards, presented by the Golden Raspberry Award Foundation, recognized some of this year's worst films, the night before the 86th Annual Academy Awards.
Movie 43 was voted by the nearly 800 foundation members and garnered the "top honor" for Worst Picture. The comedy flick stars stars Halle Berry, Hugh Jackman, Gerard Butler, Anna Faris and Kate Winslet, to name a few. Movie 43 also nabbed Worst Screenplay and Worst Director.
Kim Kardashian received Worst Supporting Actress for her role as a no-nonsense, sassy fashionista in Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor.
Jaden Smith and Will Smith "won" Worst Actor and Worst Supporting Actor, respectively, for their sci-flick After Earth. The father-son duo also took home Worst Screen Combo

Ellen DeGeneres reveals the role she stole Jennifer Aniston

Generally , Ellen DeGeneres  and  Jennifer Aniston  do not chase the same film roles, but they have good auditioned for the same film in 1999, and it is DeGeneres who won the second role in Ed Live on TV . "She recently reminded me that I had fought," said the presenter in the March 2 issue of the magazine Parade . "I got the part and not Jennifer Aniston! It will surely be the only time it happens."
Because the two women remained friends, we can imagine Aniston does not want him too. And it's not as if she had not done anything this year: in addition to turning the sixth season of Friends, the actress has also camped the role of Joanna in the satirical comedy 35 hours, it is already too , and she lent her voice to Annie Hughes in the animated film The Iron Giant.

After 12 Years a Slave took home Best Feature (and a ton of other honors) at the beachside awards show Saturday afternoon, the Oscar-winning actress told us exclusively, "I'm very proud of him. I am always very proud of him."
Pitt not only appeared in the drama, but he also served as one of its producers.
Although the duo skipped the carpet at the Independent Spirit Awards, they snuggled up at a table in front of the stage where she flashed her engagement ring.

Pop Star Justin Bieber Turns 20

Justin Bieber is ringing in his big 2-0.

While the Biebs has kept num on how he's celebrating the end of his teenage years, he did retweet several birthday wishes from friends and celeb pals including Carly Rae Jepsen, his manager Scooter Braun, his parents and his Shots app business partner Johnny Shahidi.
"Love you my little bro.. happy birthday," Shahidi wrote, posting a shot of the "Boyfriend" crooner blowing out a cake that read "Happy Birthday Bizzle"
His rumored ladylove Chantel Jeffries also posted (and then deleted) a birthday tribute on Instagram, writing "Joyeux anniversaire," or "Happy Birthday" in French.
In the picture below, the duo is posing together in a backyard, but it's not clear if the shot was actually taken today.

Meanwhile Bieber's mom, Pattie Mallette, also chimed in tweeting, "Happy Birthday YOU KNOW WHO! I love you. Xoxo," followed by, "20!? I haven't accepted it yet. Still in denial! I can't believe it! Not a teenager anymore.. Unbelievable. #DoesThatMeanImOldNow?."
His dad, Jeremy Bieber, also paid tribute, tweeting, "Happy Birthday son. Wow 20!"
Prior to his official birthday, the pop star had a "great time" hanging out at Andretti Indoor Karting and Games in Roswell, Ga. Sunday with several of his friends, his agent, his assistant and two bodyguards joining him in the fun during the two-hour visit.
While there, the group had a low-key day racing around the Superkart track, playing Skee-Ball and Super Trivia and climbing the Cosmic Rock Wall.
As far as whether Bieber's actual birthday celebration will be just as tame, we'll just have to wait and see.

Tragedy!!! Explosions rock football viewing centre in Maiduguri killing many people

Twin explosions rocked a football viewing centre in Ajilari ward, Jere Council area of Maiduguri, in Borno State today March 1st killing several football fans, Vanguard reports.

The Improvised Explosive Devices (IED), said to have been planted by suspected Boko Haram terrorists at the viewing centre at Ajilari Railway Cross, exploded at about 6pm,  killing many fans, while several others sustained injuries.

A residents of Ajilari told a Vanguard correspondent that, “Some suspected terrorists in two Toyota Hilux Pick Up vans, pretending to be  firewood suppliers, detonated the bombs near the football viewing centre,  resulting in loss of several lives.

Janet Jackson Divorce Rumors: Source Says Couple Is Still Together

Janet Jackson and her husband Wissam Al Mana are still together, despite media reports that surfaced earlier this week that they are heading for splitsville.
"According to E! News she never said divorce, she's staying with him."
The source continued that the couple's relationship has changed since they tied the knot in 2012.
"All the bliss that Janet experienced pre-marriage with Wissam and in the first couple of months is gone."
The source "believes" the singer-actress and the Arab businessman are still living together.

This denial comes in the wake of a source claiming that the pair's marriage had "collapsed," and the 47-year-old confided in her mother Katherine Jackson and some close friends that she was preparing to leave her husband.

Another source close to the couple set the record straight to Entertainment Tonight and said, "The rumors about their marriage are a lie. They are very happy and very much together. In fact, the couple has recently purchased an even larger home in New York."

Jackson confirmed their union on her website on Feb. 25, 2013 and the Grammy winner also revealed that she and her billionaire beau had actually tied the knot in 2012

"The rumors regarding an extravagant wedding are simply not true," the couple said in a joint statement at the time. "Last year we were married in a quiet, private and beautiful ceremony."

They added, "Our wedding gifts to one another were contributions to our respective favorite children's charities. We would appreciate that our privacy is respected and that we are allowed this time for celebration and joy. With love, Wissam and Janet."

Transfer News: Inter Milan target move to sign Chelsea Striker

Inter Milan want to sign Samuel Eto’o this summer when his contract at Stamford Bridge expires, reports the Metro.
The 32-year-old has not done badly at Chelsea, scoring eight goals in the Premier League and Champions League, but Jose Mourinho is desperate to bring in a world-class striker in the summer, meaning the Cameroonian will likely be surplus to requirements.

Eto’o starred at Inter between 2009 and 2011, where he won an historic treble before moving to Anzhi Makhachkala to become the world’s highest paid player at the time, and he’d likely be welcomed back with open arms at the Milanese club.

He was linked with a move back to Italy last summer, but is now likely to head to the Serie A giants at the end of the season when his deal runs out.

Until this time comes though, Eto’o will have a crucial role to play in the Blues quest for domestic and European glory – with his side top of the Premier League table and expected to qualify for quarters of the Champions League.

Laura Vandervoort is among the celebs who rang in the New Year with a proposal.

The former Smallville star is engaged to British beau Oliver Trevena, the actor and having popped the question on Dec. 31 at a castle in England, Vandervoort's rep confirmed to E! News.

Chris Brown's Aggression Due to Bipolar Disorder and PTSD, Per Legal Reports

The mystery behind Chris Brown's aggressive behavior may have just been solved.
According to legal documents obtained by E! News, the famous singer is believed to be suffering from bipolar disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder.
The letter from the rehab facility states, "Mr. Brown will also require close supervision by his treating physician in order to ensure his bipolar mental health condition remains stable. It is not uncommon for patients with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Bipolar II to use substances to self-medicate their biomedical mood swings and trauma triggers."
It continues, "Mr. Brown became aggressive and acted out physically due to his untreated mental health disorder, severe sleep deprivation, inappropriate self-medicating and untreated PTSD."
