It's all fun and games until POTUS gets tricked…
White House Senior Advisor Dan Pfeiffer has spoken out about the controversy swirling Boston Red Sox's David Ortiz's recent selfie with President Barack Obama.
Unbeknownst to the president, the athlete had a paid deal with Samsung and took the photo as a means to get publicity for the company.
"Maybe this will be the end of all selfies," he said on CBS's Face the Nation.
"Someone who uses the president's likeness to promote a product…that's a problem with the White House."
Pfeiffer added that White House lawyers have spoken with Samsung's legal team over the now-infamous selfie.

On Monday, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said that there was "no discussion of a ban" on presidential selfies, despite the latest snafu.
Last week, Carney explained, "As the rule the White House objects to attempts to use the president's likeness for commercial purposes…we object in this case."
Ortiz's lucrative deal with Samsung was revealed shortly after the photo made a splash online—in fact, it was even retweeted more than 42,000 times!
The company insisted that Ortiz was signed on to "share images with fans" and that his photo with Obama was an organic moment captured on camera.
Ortiz has since defended himself, saying, "The photo with the president was a one time in life type of moment. I didn't know that he was going to let me take a picture with him."

So Sad - Peaches Geldof Dies at Age 25

Peaches Geldof, the second daughter of musician Sir Bob Geldof and the late Paula Yates, has died at the age of 25.
According to the BBC, police were called to a home in Kent to follow up on a "report of concern for the welfare of a woman" midday Monday.
An unidentified 25-year-old woman was later pronounced dead by the South East Coast Ambulance Service.
Kent Police released the following statement regarding her passing: "At this stage, the death is being treated as unexplained and sudden."
Peaches' father released the following statement no behalf of the family, "We are beyond pain. She was the wildest, funniest, cleverest, wittiest and the most bonkers of all of us. Writing 'was' destroys me afresh. What a beautiful child. How is this possible that we will not see her again? How is that bearable?"

World Bank’s extreme poor rating of Nigeria a challenge to govt

An economist, Prof. Olu Ajakaiye, says the recent World Bank’s extreme poor rating of Nigeria is a challenge to government to step up its economic empowerment programmmes.

Ajakaiye, who is the President of the Nigeria Economic Society (NES), said this in an interview on Sunday in Abuja.

He described the rating as a wake-up call to governments at all levels to redouble their efforts at poverty eradication, job creation and expansion of the economy.

The World Bank recently listed Nigeria as one of the countries habouring the world’s most extreme poor.

Other countries on the list are India, China, Bangladesh, DR Congo, Indonesia, Pakistan, Tanzania, Ethiopia and Kenya.

The rating came few days before Sunday’s release of Nigeria’s GDP rebasing results, which place the country as the largest economy in Africa and the 26th largest in the world.

Ajakaiye said that the disconnect between national economic growth and the living standard of majority of Nigerians meant that inequality remained a challenge in the country.

“Everywhere in the world, you have this issue of inequality and what this disparity in national economic growth and the people’s living standard means is that Nigeria is not left out.

“And in a country where you have serious inequality, the possibility is there for a large number of the people to live far below the tolerable poverty line.

“The challenge, therefore, is for government to expand the economy by focusing more on supporting small and medium enterprises, creating jobs and investing more in skills development and entrepreneurial training.’’

The NES President, however, congratulated the government on the new GDP rebasing figures released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on Sunday.

Ajakaiy said that the new figures, which provide a better understanding of the structure of the economy, would serve as tools for government to better tackle the challenges of growing the economy and fighting poverty. (NAN)

Josiah Akindayomi.

Preaching a short sermon entitled: “Great and mighty seeds”, at the April Holy Ghost Service dedicated to children, the 72 years old former mathematics lecturer recounted how he joined the then unknown RCCG because of a problem and was contented with the salvation of his soul.
Justifying his teaching on the theory of how people attain greatness in life, he maintained that some people are born great, some others become great by dint of their own efforts while others have greatness entrusted upon them. According to him, a problem brought him to the church.

Chiwetel Ejiofor going from bondage to Bond villain?

THE Ecumenical Apostolic Church, Virginia USA will on April 26, honour five Nigerian state governors and the General Overseer of Synagogue Church of all Nations (SCOAN), Prophet Temitope Joshua as well as the Esama of Benin Kingdom, Chief Gabriel Igbenedion with the Global Award of Excellence.

A release by the co-ordinator of the US-based church in South-South Nigeria, Bishop Nmalagu Greatman, on behalf of Presiding Archbishop John Johnston, said the ceremony would take place at God Worshippers Assembly along Amai Road, Obiaruku, headquarters of Ukwua-ni local government area of Delta State at 10.00 a.m.

The release listed the selected governors include Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, Mr. Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State and Chief Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State.

Others include the immediate past governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi and his Bayelsa State counterpart, Timipre Sylva.
The statement said the award was approved at the Biennual Bishops Conference held at Lanexa Virgina, USA on December 28, 2013, adding that the nominees were recommended to the Board by the South South Nigeria Regional Chapter Co-ordinator, Bishop Greatman.

Malaysia Flight: Black Box Discovered? New Pulse Signal

A Chinese patrol ship, one of the many still searching for missing Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 in the southern Indian Ocean, discovered on April 5 a possible pulse signal used by the plane’s “black box” recorder.

The signal has not been officially confirmed. However, the reported signal is 37.5 kHz, which is the frequency chosen for use within the “black box” flight recorders, reports the Chines state-run news agency Xinhua.

The frequency ”is the standard beacon frequency” for the plane’s cockpit voice recorder and the flight data recorder — they are identical,” said Anish Patel, president of pinger manufacturer Dukane Seacom, reports CNN.

The frequency in the recorders was chosen “to give that standout quality that does not get interfered with by the background noise that readily occurs in the ocean,” Anish added.

However, Anish is not completely convinced that this is the signal everyone has been hunting for over the past month.

Anish stated that he would like to see more evidence. “I’d like to see some additional assets on site quickly — maybe some sonobuoys,” he said, referring to 5-inch-long (13-centimeter) sonar systems that are dropped from aircraft or ships.

And he also expressed his confusion about the detection of only one signal, since the plane comes equipped with two recorders and each of the recorders was equipped with a pinger or signal.

There have also been objects spotted in the water by Chines air force planes surrounding where the signal or pulse was detected, reports CNN.

Could the objects in the water and this new signal be confirmation that the plane is somewhere underwater and if so — is there a possibility that any of the passengers may be found?

The drama surrounding the missing plane only increased when Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak called a press conference on March 24 to announce that the aircraft had “ended” in the Indian Ocean, and that most likely all aboard were killed.

Malaysian officials, however, still have not given up hope and are still in the process of bring closure to the families of the missing passengers.

Stalker Alert!!! Selena Gomez Trespasser Arrested Again Near Her House

The homeless man convicted Wednesday of trespassing on her property was arrested "near the vicinity" of her Calabasas-area home, the L.A. County Sheriff's Department confirmed Friday.
According to information released by the LASD's Malibu/Lost Hills Station, deputies responded to a call to report a "suspicious person" and upon arrival detained 20-year-old Che Cruz, who was previously arrested on Gomez's property last Sunday.
Per the L.A. County District Attorney's Office, a 45-day stay in county jail had been a part of the sentence handed down earlier this week after Cruz pleaded no contest to unauthorized entry of a dwelling house, but he was released after having served seven days ahead of his court date.


Cruz was also, however, given three years' probation and ordered to stay away from Gomez and her residence.
When deputies arrived at the scene today, they discovered that he was in violation of a protective order issued Wednesday that required him to stay 150 yards away from that particular property.
He was arrested for violating a court order and is being held in lieu of $20,000 bail.
Authorities didn't say whether Gomez was home when this latest episode with Cruz went down, but she was there March 30 when he knocked on her door and, after being told to leave, holed up in her guest house until deputies arrived.

TROUBLE!!! Rapper The Game is being Investigated for Domestic Violence

Trouble in paradise?, The Game is now the suspect in a felony domestic violence investigation ... after allegedly beating up his fiancee, According to law enforcement sources.

According to our sources, Game's fiancee Tiffney Cambridge, filed a police report last weekend ... following a March 19th incident during which she claims Game attacked her. Cambridge told police the couple was having an argument and Game turned violent.

Sources close to Tiffney tell us, Game hit Tiffney repeatedly in the face, injuring her eye socket and breaking her nose. Law enforcement sources say police took photos of her face.

We're told the L.A. County Sheriff's Department has launched a criminal investigation.

Both Game and Tiffney appear on his reality show, "Marrying The Game."

Sources connected with Game tell that he acknowledges there was an incident ... but the rapper insists he never laid a finger on her.

Lupita Nyong'o Named New Face of Lancome

Lupita Nyong'o's next big role has been revealed!

The 12 Years a Slave Oscar winner was named the newest Lancome brand ambassador on Friday, April 4. In her new role, Nyong'o, 31, joins current brand spokeswomen Kate Winslet, Julia Roberts, and Penelope Cruz.

"I am truly honored to join the Maison Lancôme, a brand with such a prestigious history and that I have always loved," Nyong'o said in a statement. "I am particularly proud to represent its unique vision for  women and the idea that beauty should not be dictated, but should instead be an expression of a woman's freedom to be herself."

Mrs. Abu used her home as the shelter for pregnant teenagers and women whose children she sold to potential purchasers.

The process of child adoption was illegal as it didn't correspond to the procedure stipulated by law.

It became known that the woman was involved in the illegal child trafficking business for many years.

The police also arrested a couple, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Blessing Iheanacho, on charges of conspiracy to cover a pregnant woman, Chidinma Okeke, with the intent of adopting her baby on delivery.

The couple who were childless after 18 years of marriage, have contracted Chidinma to get pregnant and kept her at Comfort's home in order to adopt her baby when the the time comes.

Reports claim that Chidinma gave birth to a baby boy in an undisclosed hospital in Aba.

Also a pregnant girl, Miss Ozuchi Chinasa, who was also harboured at the "Osu Abuwa", was rescued during the raid.
