The director of ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ is under hot water. On April 16, a 31-year-old man filed a lawsuit claiming that in 1999, when he was just 17, he was sexually assaulted by writer, director and producer, Bryan Singer.
Bryan Singer, 48, is known for directing hit films like The Usual Suspects and the X-Men films, but is now being accused of using “drugs, alcohol, threats and inducements” to assault Michael F. Egan III in 1999.
The lawsuit, filed in a Hawaii federal court on April 16, claims that Bryan “manipulated his power, wealth, and position in the entertainment industry to sexually abuse and exploit the underage Plaintiff through the use of drugs, alcohol, threats, and inducements.”
Nevada resident, Michael Egan claimed in the lawsuit that when he was 17, Bryan gave him several drugs, including cocaine, and alcohol and was part of a group that “maintained and exploited boys in a sordid sex ring.”
“The claims made against Bryan Singer are completely without merit,” Bryan’s attorney Marty Singer said. “We are very confident that Bryan will be vindicated in this absurd and defamatory lawsuit. It is obvious that this case was filed in an attempt to get publicity at the time when Bryan’ s new movie (X-Men: Days of Future Past) is about to open in a few weeks.”
