Actor Micheal Jace, Charged With FATAL Shooting Of His Wife

The Shield star Michael Jace has been charged with the fatal shooting of his wife, April Jace, KCBS reports. The actor's wife of 9 years, April, 40, was found shot dead in her Los Angeles home on Monday, May 19, in the Hyde Park area of the city.
Jace, 51, who played Detective Julien Lowe in the FX police drama, was detained for questioning on Monday night, and later booked on a homicide charge early on Tuesday morning, May 20.

UPDATE: Lt. John Jenal told City News Service that two children were inside the home at the time of the shooting. Jace and his wife share two young sons. As of Tuesday morning, the children were in protective custody, Jenal added. Jace is currently being held in jail in lieu of $1 million bail.
The actor called 911 to say his wife had been shot, detective Dean Vinluan told CNN. Neighbors also heard gunshots and called 911. A news release distributed by police on Tuesday read: "At this moment the motive of the murder is believed to be domestic violence."

The actor, who appeared in 89 episodes of The Shield, was often cast as a law enforcement officer in his 22-year acting career, with roles in CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, NYPD Blue, and, most recently, Southland. He also starred as a member of the Black Panthers on Oscar-winning movie Forrest Gump.

Talking about the incident on Monday, an LAPD spokeswoman told the L.A. Times, "It looks to have started as a domestic-related incident." Police arrived at the couple's home around 8:30 p.m., after a report of shots fired, Officer Chris No told the Associated Press.
