Despite the heartbreaking circumstances, Valerie has never let her past prevent her from accomplishing her dreams.
“Being a child of a rape, not knowing who my father is, not knowing if he’s ever been found, most people would think it’s such a negative situation,” the 24-year-old told TODAY.com.
Valerie has vowed to educate women on how to protect themselves from sexual assault and makes that her main platform as a woman and a Miss USA hopeful.
“I believe God put me here for a reason: to inspire people, to encourage them, to give them hope that everything is possible and you can’t let your circumstances define your life,” she revealed in the interview.
We’re proud that Valerie is not ashamed to speak out on her heartbreaking past. She is an inspiration to women everywhere.
