Shocking news. A man went on a murderous rampage on July 9, shooting and killing 4 of his own nieces and nephews — ages 4 to 13 – as well as both of their parents. So sad.

Ronald Lee Haskell, 34, allegedly opened fire on his unsuspecting family on Wednesday night, July 9, in Houston, Texas. His horrifying act left four of his own nieces and nephews – ages ranging from 4 to 13 — dead, and a fifth one, aged 15, injured. The children’s parents were also shot and killed inside the home.

Ronald is accused of opening fire inside a Houston home where his children were found, and also killing the children’s adult parents: Stephen Robert Stay, 39, and Katie Stay, 34.
sources were also able to uncover that Ronald was Katie’s ex-brother-in-law. A family friend confirmed that Ronald was the ex-husband of Katie’s sister, Melannie Lyon.

Katie Stay’s father, Roger Lyon, said in an official statement from the family:

Stephen and Katie Stay and their beautiful children were an amazing and resilient family. They lived to help others, both at church and in their neighborhood. We love them beyond words.

Cassidy Stay, 15, who survived the attack, is expected to make a full recovery. We are grateful for this miracle. We are in awe of her bravery and courage in calling 911, an act that is likely to have saved all of our lives. She is our hero. More information will be forthcoming in the days ahead about her heroics, but right now we want to concentrate on getting her well.

We are also grateful for all who have reached out with their prayers, well-wishes and offers of help. We send our unending gratitude to law enforcement and first responders whose quick actions saved many lives.

We are shocked and devastated by this tragedy that has taken these precious souls away from us. At this time, we are not able to make any statements or grant any interviews as our grief is difficult to bear. Please respect our privacy and that of our family members as we continue to try to make sense of what’s happened.

According to police, the injured 15-year-old girl is the one who called 911 and alerted them to her uncle’s brutal attack. It has also been reported that she told police he was headed to her grandparents house next.

HCPD chased Ron for 25 minutes before trapping him inside his vehicle in a residential cul de sac. Reports claim that Ron held a gun to his head inside of his car, but eventually surrendered to police.

Pictures of the scene reveal Ron standing next to a car with his hands raised above his head just before being taken into police custody. The accused shooter faces multiple capital murder charges, according to local news outlet KHOU.
