TRAGIC!!! Man Kill His Himself, 3 Children & Wife In Horrific Murder-Suicide

An entire family in Maine was killed when a man went on a murderous rampage, killing his three children and his wife by shooting them in the middle of the night while they were sleeping. Shortly after he also took his own life. So sad.

Joel Smith, 33, was having trouble supporting his family financially. Just one week after holding a gun to his head in front of his wife, Heather Smith, 35, Joel finally snapped — taking her life, as well as the lives of their three children Jason Montez, 12, Noah Smith, 7, and Lily Smith, 4.

This is an incredibly sad story.

On Saturday, July 26 in Saco, Maine, Joel walked through his family’s apartment and one-by-one took the lives of his three children and his wife.

Saco Police believe that the murders occurred around 11:30pm, and the boys — Jason and Noah — were found shot dead in their individual bedrooms. The third child, Lily, was found shot dead in her parents bed alongside her mother, Heather.

Joel’s body was found near the bed that Heather and Lily were in, dead from an apparent self-inflicted gun wound, reports Daily Mail.

Police have ruled the murder-suicide a domestic situation, and they have no intentions on investigating the situation further.

Sadly, friends and neighbors of Joel and Heather revealed that they were “nice” and “friendly” people. Police claim they had never been called to the apartment prior to this incident, suggesting the family did not have domestic issues prior to this horrific tragedy.

The day of the shooting, Joel, Heather, and their three children spent the day at a friend’s cookout. Their behavior was normal, and Joel did not show any signs that he might be planning a mass murder-suicide that very night.

However, Heather told a friend at the cookout that a few days earlier Joel had held a gun to his head and threatened to kill himself right in front of her. It was this statement that caused friends to contact the police on Sunday, July 27 when they couldn’t contact any member of the Smith family.

“We know that they were having some domestic issues, financial problems, and we’re going to try to get to the bottom of that,” Saco Police Sergeant Chris Harriman told the Boston Herald.
