Dr. Oz - Ebola Is A Dumb Virus

It turns out Dr Oz is not worried a bit about ebola, I saw this on pagesix and thought to share
The Oprah’s favorite cardiothoracic surgeon, 54, called into the “Elvis Duran and the Morning Show” on Friday to say that Dr. Craig Spencer’s diagnosis as the city’s first Ebola patient is no cause for concern.

“Dr. Spencer, who was diagnosed with Ebola [Thursday], was a doctor at my hospital,” he said. “It’s got everybody excited, but we knew it was going to come to New York at some point, we just didn’t know quite how and now it’s here.”
Oz stressed that one of the main reasons New Yorkers shouldn’t worry about Ebola becoming a plague is because the virus is “dumb.”
“At its very core, Ebola is a dumb virus,” he explained. “What I mean by that is that it’s not very smart; it doesn’t spread well. It’s not very smart because it doesn’t keep you alive. A smart virus doesn’t kill its host. This version of this virus is not what’s going to be a pandemic.”
The surgeon also pointed out that medicine has come a long way since the 14th century, when the Black Death claimed the lives of 25 million people in Europe.
“It’s the fear of ancestral plague that stripped away societies that we keep in the back of our minds,” he said. “But we live in a world now that’s very different for two reasons. We have much better ideas of how to deal with these problems and we will find treatments very quickly for Ebola, we already have some that we believe work. Secondly, we also live in a world where we’ll have more of these.”
On Thursday, Spencer, 33, became the first New Yorker diagnosed with Ebola. Last week the doctor returned from Guinea where he had been treating patients with the virus.

Since the diagnosis, Spencer’s fiancée and two friends have been quarantined.
