Human Rights Foundation blasts Nicki Minaj’s upcoming show

This holiday season, different issues has been popping up for rapper Nikki Minaj, this is actually the first that would be directly affecting the superstar rapper. First was her brother who was charged with raping a 12 year old (whom she bailed with $100k) then it was her beau Meek Mill whose probation might have been violated. Now the 33 year old "the night is still young" rapper is under fire from the Human Rights Foundation for an upcoming performance at the Show Unitel Boas Festas for the mobile-phone company in Angola.
According to reports by pagesix, Activist Thor Halvorssen wrote to Minaj’s team urging her to pull out because Angolan president José Eduardo dos Santos “has made it his policy to harass, imprison or kill politicians, journalists and activists who protest his rule.”

Halvorssen also noted that Angolan rapper Luaty Beirao was “arrested . . . after attending a meeting to discuss democracy and nonviolence.”

He asked Minaj, “Shouldn’t you be advocating for the release of the imprisoned rapper . . . rather than entertaining the dictator?” and, “This would be a great way for Minaj to set herself apart from other celebrity recipients of dictator cash such as Hilary Swank, Lionel Messi, Erykah Badu, Jennifer Lopez and Kanye West.”

Minaj’s rep didn’t comment.
