Televsion mogul, Oprah Winfrey, 61, on tour in Australia this month, announced she had recently chosen the name Canaan for the premature son she lost when she was 15.
But Kitty Kelley revealed in an unauthorized 2010 book “Oprah: A Biography” that Oprah’s child, who was born in February 1969 and died the next month, was named Vincent Miquelle Lee on his birth and death certificates. (Lee was Oprah’s mother’s name.)
Winfrey, who is worth a whooping $3 billion, told a 15,000-person crowd at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena on Dec. 2, “I did an interview with a reporter before I came to Australia, and she said, ‘You should name the baby son who died.’ ”
The Herald Sun in Australia also quoted Winfrey as saying, “So I have named him . . . Canaan because Canaan means ‘new land, new life.’”
What a billionaire the child would have turned out to be by default, anyways may he soul continue to rest in peace.
