General Muhammadu Buhari, presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress has been declared the winner of the election in Ondo State.

He scored 299,889 votes to President Goodluck Jonathan’s 251,368 votes.

The victory is especially significant for the APC candidate as Governor Olusegun Mimiko, chairman of the Goodluck-Sambo re-election campaign in the western part of Nigeria, is the governor of this western state.

He had served as the arrow head of the campaign, organising, mobilising some Yoruba leaders to endorse the Jonathan ticket, around the vague promise that Jonathan would implement the decisions of the 2014 National Conference, which he claimed would enhance Yoruba quest for true federalism.

In October 2012, Mimiko won the state in his own re-election bid on the platform of the Labour Party, edging the Action Congress to the third position behind the Peoples Democratic Party, which came second.

However, in a not-too-surprising move, the medical doctor turned politician abandoned the Labour Party and joined the Peoples Democratic Party and joined the PDP last October.

Members of the state house of assembly and commissioner decamped with him.

APC Defeats PDP At Aso Rock Polling Unit

The All Progressive Congress candidate for the House of Representatives has defeated the Peoples Democratic Candidate at the two polling units located within the precincts of the Presidential Villa.

In the polling Unit 021, the APC candidate polled 255 votes while the PDP candidate polled 254 votes.

2 Killed As Boko Haram Attacks Polling Units In Gombe

Two people have been killed at two polling units in Birin Bolawa and Birin Fulani in the Nafada district of Gombe state this morning by Boko Haram members.

According residents of the villages who spoke with AFP, they said suspected members of Boko Haram stormed the polling units, attacked the electorates and killed two people. An election official who spoke with AFP under anonymity, said: “We could hear the gunmen shouting, ‘Didn’t we warn you about staying away from (the) election?'”.

A woman has been caught with thumb-printed electoral materials this morning in Lagos.It was reported that the woman, identified as a woman leader of the All Progressives Congress Lagos East was caught moving thumb-printed electoral materials in a yellow-colored bus at about 12:15am. The number plate of the apprehended bus is FKJ450XJ.

News just reaching us indicates that a car bomb exploded at the WTC Primary School Polling Booth in Enugu North Local Government Area of Enugu State at about 7.38 am today, March 28. The Advocate reports that there was however no casualty as the bomb exploded before the election commenced but there was pandemonium as voters were scared. The bombs was planted in a Honda Accord Car and parked behind the WTC primary school by unknown persons awaiting the commencement of voting. Officials of the Police Bomb Unit who rushed to the scene after policemen posted to the centre raised an alert, said one of the bombs exploded inside the car while the second did not explode before they arrived.

A woman savagely beat a teacher in front of her students after claiming that the teacher was having an affair with her husband. But instead of the students and other members of staff to stop the fight, they stood aside, watched the fight, filmed it and uploaded the clip on Youtube.

35 year old Laelia Paredes Flores, stormed into the classroom in Huimanguillo in south-east Mexico, and attacked 32 year old Marcella Villalpando Tovar. Tovar was kicked, punched in her face and stomach and jumped on. And her students didn't do anything to stop it. In fact, another woman can be heard off camera encouraging the beat down

Angry Passengers Sits On Tarmac In Abuja

Angry passengers who were to fly to Adamawa and Gombe states from the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja got so angry and decided to take over the tarmac and sit in protest after their flight was cancelled yesterday night. Some of the passengers said they were at the airport for their 9am flight but the airline kept delaying the flight until 9pm when they informed them that the flight had been cancelled.
