Robin Thicke and Paula Patton Reunite Just Before He Cancels Concert Due to "Vocal Issues"

Robin Thicke and Paula Patton reunited over the weekend in Vancouver, marking the first time the two have been seen together since they announced they were splitting.
The singer and actress were seen spending some quality family time with their son, Julian, at a kid's playground.
The two appeared to be in good spirits and laughed with one another as their little one played around.
At one point, they were seen each holding on to one of Julian's hands as they made their way downstairs into the play area.
Patton is currently spending time in Canada where she filming her upcoming project, Warcraft.

Earlier this morning, it was announced that the "Blurred Lines" singer's latest concert in Ontario was cancelled due to Thicke's "unforeseen vocal issues."
The sold-out show at Casino Rama has since been rescheduled for July 26.
The cancellation comes at an odd time, considering that the crooner was most recently spotted at an L.A. nightclub for his 37th birthday alongside Leonardo DiCaprio on Monday.
Thicke and a group of his closest pals enjoyed cocktails inside the club, including tequila drinks and Amstel Lights, according to a source. There were no women in their private booth as it was strictly a boys' night out.
Thicke left the club around 1 a.m. and was all smiles while driving away.

"FAKE PASTOR" in N3.1m Fraud

The Ogun State Police Command, yesterday, paraded a fake pastor, Ndubuisi Ignatius, and 38 other suspects for allegedly engaging in various criminal activities across the state.
Ignatius was accused of disguising as a spiritual father, held one James Nwosu, living at Agbara in Ado Odo Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State, hostage and robbed  him of N3,190,000.
The Commissioner of Police, Ikemefuna Okoye, while parading the 39 suspected criminals in Abeokuta, disclosed that the fake pastor, who had been a spiritual father to Nwosu’s family for over six months, was arrested February 25 after he allegedly defrauded his client.
Okoye further said that the fake man of God had confessed to the crime he was accused, adding that he would be charged to court after the completion of investigation on the matter.

Another pastor in Lagos, One Mayo Martins, who claims to be a pastor, was arraigned in a Yaba court for allegedly cutting the fingers of Saidat Faleya, a two year old-girl with a saw.
The girl’s mother said the incident happened when her daughter went to a neighbour’s room when she went to have her bath, and then was alerted about her daughter’s bleeding and dangling fingers.
In the court, Martins said he did not intentionally cut the girl’s fingers, though the police said he initially denied the allegation.
However, he was granted bail in the sum of N100,000 with a surety and was instructed to be in court for the next hearing on April 24.
Also, a teenager, one Avoseh Abraham, was docked in a Yaba Magistrate’s Court for allegedly raping an 80 year old woman, Mrs Martha Swotan.

Eleven-year-old Kareem Granton is basically willing to do anything to get out of doing chores.

So Kareem ran away from his Brooklyn home last Wednesday and slept on the subway for five days while his mom, Precious, launched a citywide search for him, all because he did not want to clean up dog poop.
Well. That's not great.
"This came down to someone who just didn't want to do his chores," community activist Tony Herbert explained in a press conference, noting that Precious is a "very responsible mother" and there is no history of abuse and Kareem is not a chronic runaway.

Last Wednesday, he was told to pick up after the family dog, Queenie. He refused and ran away to Chuck E. Cheese with a friend. Afterwards, he didn't return. The family held a rally on Sunday to draw attention to Kareem's disappearance. Meanwhile, he was sleeping on the subway and surviving off $10 that his stepdad had given him.
Yesterday, a passerby noticed him and alerted police. "I just had a tantrum in the moment," Kareem later explained. "I knew my mom was looking for me. I didn't know it would turn into this big of a situation."
Gothamist reports that Kareem was too scared of being in trouble to call his mom. Meanwhile, the NYPD simply says, "He got lost. He didn't know how to get home." Now, Precious calls the reunion a "happy ending," and Herbert says Kareem "knows he's going to be punished."
After finding Kareem, hungry and disheveled, an NYPD officer, Dennis Grimm, brought him to McDonald's. Kareem ordered a McGriddle and played with Grimm's German shepherd, Dakota.
"He seemed to perk up a lot after he ate," Grimm says. "He was petting the dog...I think it helped his nerves to settle."

Nigerian jailed 3 1/2 years for duping 81yr old pensioner in the UK

A 40 year old Nigerian man Chris Chidi Dinneya (pictured above) has been jailed for three and a half years for duping an 81 year old pensioner from Cambridge of £300,000 out of his life savings. Dinneya told the old man, who was not named publicly, that he had won the Spanish Lottery and the victim believed that he was set to receive a large payout that he continued to pay even after police launched an investigation. 

Police and a County Council were forced to apply for a court order to take control of the elderly victim's bank accounts to prevent him from sending more cash to the fraudster.

A number of the payments was traced to Dinneya who was promptly arrested. He was convicted on money laundering charges and jailed for a total of three-and-a-half years on March 4.

INHUMANE: Mother sells three-day-old baby for N260,000 in Akwa Ibom

According to a report by Punch, a nursing mother in Akwa Ibom named Imaobong Udoh (pictured above) has been arrested for allegedly selling her 3-day old baby girl for N260,000.

Also arrested along with Imaobong were four persons for allegedly participating in the theft of the baby.
They are the buyer, Mrs. Regina James; her husband, Mfon James; the traditional birth attendant who delivered the baby, Mrs. Comfort Henry; and Mr Emmanuel Okon, a homeopathic doctor, who arranged the sale.

Justin Bieber's Trial Date for DUI Charges is May 5, Singer Does Not Get a Plea Deal

Justin Bieber's trial date has been set.
The 20-year-old pop star is scheduled to appear in a Florida court on May 5 to face charges stemming from his Jan. 23 DUI arrest after he was caught drag racing by police in Miami with his father Jeremy Bieber and friends.
In addition to driving under the influence, the "Boyfriend" singer will also face charges of resisting arrest and possessing an invalid driver's license. Bieber has pleaded not guilty and no plea deal has been made on his behalf.

The originally scheduled trial date for the Biebs was postponed after attorneys for the star fought against the release of jail surveillance videos that showed Bieber giving a urine sample for a drug test. While breath tests showed Bieber's blood-alcohol level was below the 0.02 limit for underage drivers, other tests detected marijuana and Xanax in his system at the time of his arrest.
Adding to Bieber's legal woes is a separate civil suit filed against him by a Miami photographer who claims he was assaulted by one of the singer's security guards. Bieber recently gave an hours-long deposition for the case in which he displayed less than cooperative behavior while being questioned by attorneys.
DUI charges aside and with the deposition in his past, Bieber took to Twitter yesterday to share this positive message with fans, writing, "Love how some people use to twist and justify the horrible action of others. We all have a right to defend ourselves and feel harassed."

EFCC begins trial of Fani Kayode over money laundery

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission  on Monday commenced the trial of a former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, at a Federal High Court, Lagos.

Fani-Kayode is standing trial on an amended 40 counts bordering on money laundering.

At the re-arraignment of Fani-Kayode on Monday, the prosecutor, Mr. Festus Keyamo, called his first witness, Mr. Okechukwu Okeke, to give his testimony.

Led in evidence by the prosecutor, Okeke, a relationship officer with the First City Monument Bank Plc, told the court that the accused maintained an account with FCMB, adding that his account had become dormant.

He alleged that the account of the accused was first domiciled with First Atlantic Bank before it was acquired by Fin Bank which was later acquired by FCMB.

According to the witness, as a relationship officer with the bank, he had the account history of customers.

He said he was given a letter by the legal department of his bank to verify the account history of the accused.

The witness, however, told the court that although the account was inactive, he still had details of transactions stored in the computer.

At this point, the prosecutor then tendered a statement of account of the accused between August 2008 and September 2012.

He informed the court that he was unable to produce the statement of account of the accused between 2004 and 2008 when he served as a minister.

He said he had written a letter to the bank to obtain the statements, and was told to come back in one week.

The Defence counsel, Mr Ifedayo Adedipe, did not oppose the submissions of the prosecutor.

Following this development, Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia adjourned the case to March 18 for continuation of trial.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Fani-Kayode was first arraigned in December 2008 on a 47 counts.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge and Justice Ramat Mohammed granted him bail in the sum of N200m with two sureties in like sum.

He was re-arraigned with Justice Binta Murtala-Nyako as the trial judge following the transfer of Mohammed out of Lagos Division.

NAN also reports that Fani-Kayode was again re-arraigned the third time on February 11, 2013, with Justice Ajumogobia taking charge following the transfer of Murtala-Nyako.

Oscar Pistorious Murder Trial: Athlete Vomits in Court During Reeva Steenkamp Autopsy Testimony

Oscar Pistorious's became visibly ill in court during a testimony on Monday by Professor Gery Saayman, a pathologist who performed the autopsy on Reeva Steenkamp's body.
During the proceedings, Saayman explained gruesome, graphic details about the injuries the former model sustained after she was fatally shot.
The Olympian threw up numerous times while sitting on his dock and listening to the details about the three bullet wounds. He also began crying so much that Judge Thokozile Masipa asked Pistorious' chief defense attorney, Barry Roux, to check on his client.
Roux told the court that Pistorious was not going to be able to change his reaction to the testimony, but that Saayman could proceed. A bucket and plastic bag were then placed at Pistorious' feet.

Masipa ordered that the testimony would not be broadcast or reported live on Twitter by journalists in attendance Monday, as the explicit content was not suitable for public consumption.
Reporters, however, were allowed to report on the testimony without directly quoting the witness.
Saayman claimed that the three bullet wounds, on Steenkamp's head, arm and right hip area, were consistent with "ranger" bullets which expand upon impact in order to cause maximum tissue damage.
Issues were also raised during today's testimony regarding who made the first call to the authorities after the shooting, Pistorious or a security guard named Pieter Baba.
Both claim that they were the first ones to alert the police on Valentine's Day last year.
If convicted of premeditated murder, Pistorious could face a minimum of 25 years in prison. He could also get five years for each of the three gun indictments he's been charged with.

Boko Haram confesses before T.B Joshua, reveals failed plans to bomb the church

Wonders shall never End. The congregation at the Synagogue, Church Of All Nations (SCOAN) were stunned yesterday when a member of the dreaded Boko Haram sect confessed before Pastor T.B. Joshua, revealing how their plan to bomb the popular church in Lagos was thwarted.

In a broadcast beamed live via the Christian station, Emmanuel TV, late into the afternoon, Joshua announced to the congregation that a young man had a confession to make.

"My name is Mustapha. I come from Yola, Adamawa State. I am a member of Boko Haram," he began, sending the congregation into uproar. "Boko Haram is a cult. We have killed many souls," he confessed.

Mustapha explained further: "When I joined this cult, they wrote something with Arabic Language. After writing it, they washed it and I drunk it. That is the day I had the mind to kill souls."

While explaining their plan to bomb the church and how it failed, the secret sect member explained said: "We were five in number. We dropped at the junction opposite the church. There was a man who used to sell something opposite the church here. He is selling sweets, soap and cigarettes. I met the man and asked him to help me keep the bag I was carrying. It contained some instruments - bombs, to destroy people.
"Later, we decided to sit down and eat before going on our mission here. Our plan was to take souls, to destroy at this Synagogue Church."

"We can set the bomb to explode in one minute or ten minutes. We planned to set it for five minutes and immediately leave the place. All the souls will go."

However, whilst sitting down to eat with his colleagues at a restaurant opposite the popular church in Ikotun-Egbe, Mustapha recounted a strange incident. "They brought food for us and we were eating. At that place, they had television. We were watching the television and discussing. It was Emmanuel TV - I saw you (T.B. Joshua) preaching to people.

"By the time you prayed and laid hands on the screen, it was like you were there with us and you joined our midst. As you laid your hands on the screen, you laid your hands on our face. That was when confusion came between us; everybody scattered.

"Since that day, I wanted to go home but I am not fit. Any time I lie down, I will be seeing you (T.B. Joshua) in my dream. You are disturbing me. I don't know what I did to you. The thing is bothering me too much."

Asked to explain further, Mustapha sadi: "In my dream yesterday, you told me that the group of Boko Haram would not exist again. I want to go but I don't have the spirit to do it again. I don't sleep in the night; I always see you. You are disturbing me. You keep praying for me and laying hands on me. I want to sleep well. I cannot close my eyes without seeing you (T.B. Joshua). Please, help me."

Several hours after the sect member gave his initial confession, Pastor Joshua brought the young man forward again, stating that God had warned him of the impending attack several weeks ago, prompting him to go into intense prayers.

"I have been in a serious battle for the past two weeks. Those who looked at my knees yesterday will know that this is what I wore last week," Joshua stated.

"It was not a surprise to me because I have seen it. My mission is to separate him from the spirit that is controlling him to do that. We are not to fight mere flesh and blood," the pastor explained.

Mustapha continued: "I cannot sleep or close my eyes. Even now, I am feeling a headache because I have not slept at night. Any time I lie down and I want to sleep, I will see you in my dream, praying for me and disturbing me."

As he was prayed upon, the Boko Haram member fell violently on the floor. He managed to get back up but fell again at the prayer of Joshua. He then began to vomit some strange substances.
When asked about a tattoo of a scorpion emblazoned on his shoulder, he replied: "This is the tattoo they gave to me in the cult. All of us have this tattoo."

Mustapha, who explained it was his very first time in a church, confessed that, "We have never failed before. There is an operation we did at an airforce base in Maiduguri recently. Even we went to Adamawa State in Michika two weeks ago. We have never failed."

Stretching his hand towards Mustapha again, Joshua prayed once again and the young man fell to the floor. As he got up slowly from the floor, tears were in the eyes of Mustapha. "The spirit leading him to kill is gone," Joshua declared to applause from the onlookers.

Justin Theroux's fiancee admitted that she would eat nachos even after they'd fallen on the ground.
"I fry the chips myself," she revealed. "Just take a tortilla, cut it into triangles, and throw 'em in coconut oil."

She also loves yoga, exercise, and meditation, but if she could switch bodies with one person for a day, she definitely would.

Rihanna and Drake Grab Dinner in London After Wining and Dining in Amsterdam

Well, this isn't going to do much to stop those Rihanna and Drake romance rumors.
After stepping out for a dinner date in Amsterdam Thursday, the "Take Care" collaborators were back together again Saturday, grabbing dinner in London.
For this particular occasion, Rihanna was dressed casually in a Dead Boys Clubhouse hooded sweatshirt, a black coat, and ripped jeans, while Drake was suited up in a dark grey coat and jeans.
This is the second time in just days that the duo was spotted out together, after they wined and dined at a sushi restaurant in Amsterdam. Before that, they headed to Soixante Dix Neuf nightclub in Paris, where Drake was on hand to help the venue celebrate its first birthday.

Rihanna was by the rapper's side for the majority of the evening as he took over DJ duties at the venue. This was after she popped up for a surprise performance at Drake's concert in the City of Lights and grinded on him on stage.
Although Drake has referred to the Bajan beauty as "the ultimate fantasy," she and he both have insisted that their relationship is strictly platonic.

FA CUP: Wigan Beats Man City and will Arsenal in the semi final

FA Cup holders Wigan booked a semi-final date with Arsenal after stunning Manchester City in a 2-1 win at The Etihad.

Jordi Gomez and James Perch struck as Wigan kept their defence going with an heroic display on Sunday afternoon.

Gomez converted a penalty after more bad defending by the erratic Martin Demichelis and Perch tapped in early in the second half as the holders booked a semi-final date with Arsenal at Wembley.

Samir Nasri did pull one back with a 20-yard half-volley on 68 as City produced a strong finish but they were unable to prevent a repeat of Wigan’s shock victory in last year’s final at Wembley.

The result was a tactical triumph for former City striker Uwe Rosler, who has revived Wigan’s fortunes since taking over as manager in December.

For City boss Pellegrini, the decision to leave the likes of Vincent Kompany, David Silva and Fernandinho out of his starting line-up – with Wednesday’s Champions League trip to Barcelona in mind – backfired.

A week ago his side produced a fightback to snatch the Capital One Cup from Sunderland but they could not repeat the feat and hopes of a domestic treble are over.

Wigan may not play the same passing game that they did under Roberto Martinez but, in terms of effort and commitment, their display evoked memories of last year’s glorious cup run.

They created the game’s first chance after two minutes but Gomez blasted well over.

City did appear to gain a measure of control in the opening 25 minutes but with Demichelis in the back line, City looked error-prone.

The former Malaga defender, whose list of gaffes is growing, was the culprit again as he was beaten by Marc-Antoine Fortune and then clumsily brought the Wigan forward down. Gomez rifled home the spot-kick.

City needed to respond and there were promising signs as Nasri wriggled his way into the area only for his cross to drift over the bar.

Wigan refused to be intimidated and Callum McManaman, who ran City ragged at Wembley, appeared in the mood to do so again.

He was brought down crudely by Javi Garcia on the right and then Micah Richards attempted to haul him down on the opposite side. Play continued on the latter occasion and Richards took out his frustration with a mistimed challenge on Gomez.

Several players from both sides then became involved in a melee and McManaman gestured that he had been elbowed.

Apart from these, Dangote Group owns salt factories and flour mills and is a major importer of rice, fish, pasta, cement and fertilizer. The company exports cotton, cashew nuts, cocoa, sesame seed and ginger to several countries. It also has major investments in real estate, banking, transport, textiles and oil and gas. There has been an awkwardness about Barca these last few weeks and a lack of synchronisation cost them dear here. Valladolid looked capable of breaching them from the get-go with Manucho stealing in early on to sting the palms of Victor Valdes. There was none of the intricate passing play characteristic of the team from Camp Nou. There were long shots, direct free kicks and counterattacks where once there would have been neat one-twos and intelligent link-up play. They had the ball, yes, but they did not do anything worthwhile with it. 

Barca could scarcely find their way behind Jesus Rueda and Stefan Mitrovic in the centre of the Valladolid defence and the performances of the full-back Antonio Rukavina and left-midfielder Zakaraya Bergdich were also top rate. When the chances came, moreover, Valladolid were more telling in front of goal. 

Fausto Rossi's first-half strike was as avoidable for Barca as it was welcome for the hosts. The ball bounced around the Barca area as Gerard Pique and Adriano failed to clear their lines and the Italian drilled home. 

From Lionel Messi at the other end there were mere flickers. His best chances, tellingly, were created alone. A couple of speedy bursts yielded shots on target in either half but Diego Marino in the Valladolid goal stood tall. This, however, was not one of those underdog victories which owed everything to the goalkeeper; Valladolid were good value for their win. 

And even when Barca carved out a clear-cut chance for Neymar, the only one of the game from their perspective, he contrived to fire over. Not long afterwards, he was hooked by Tata Martino. Pique was given similar treatment after a clumsy booking, sacrificed so Sergio Busquets could slot in at centre-back to generate attacks. Barca remained slack though and could even have gone two behind. 

After Messi had lobbed another free kick into the clutches of Marino, the substitutes Rama and Oscar combined after the former showed Javier Mascherano a clean pair of heels. 

Barca in the closing stages simply did not play like a team who were fighting like their title credentials depended on it. There was nothing to enliven their spirits; there was possession and territory, as usual, but no cutting edge. 

The form of Neymar in this match will in particular be a concern for Martino. He jetted to South Africa and scored a hat-trick for Brazil in midweek and looked like he had a ball. Here was the comedown. 

Busquets spelt out plainly what the woeful display now means. "We did not have the right attitude. We made things very difficult for ourselves," he said. "It's a very tough loss. We're now in a difficult situation in La Liga."

Indeed, Barcelona's Liga destiny seems to be out of their hands. They have 11 games left - two of which are against the Madrid big boys while Villarreal away will be no cakewalk either. Indeed, on this form, it is hard to scan the fixture list and pick out a safe three points for the Catalans. That is evidence enough of how shoddy they have been in 2014. Ten league matches and only five wins - that is not title form, not with Real Madrid now clear at the top of the table and it is theirs to lose.

Presidential drama: President Jonathan’s N9bn jet refuses to fly

President Goodluck Jonathan and some top government officials on Saturday escaped an air mishap at the Minna Airport, Niger State, when a presidential jet developed a technical fault, while they were aboard.

The presidential jet, Nigerian Air Force 001 (5N-FGT), had earlier conveyed Jonathan to Minna for the -Peoples Democratic Party’s North-Central rally which held at the Trade Fair Centre, Minna.

At the end of the rally, the President returned to the airport in company with top government officials, PDP state governors and party chiefs for a trip to Sokoto, from where he was scheduled to return to Abuja.

However, several minutes after Jonathan had bade farewell to those who accompanied him to the airport, and the door of the aircraft was shut, the aircraft failed to move.

After many attempts, crew members and engineers disembarked from the aircraft and made spirited efforts to fix the fault as armed security men took strategic positions around it.

While this was going on, Vice-President Namadi Sambo; President of the Senate, David Mark; all PDP governors, members of the National Assembly and members of the Federal Executive Council were watching under the scorching sun.

When it became obvious that the fault could not be easily fixed, the commander of the Presidential Air Fleet, Air Vice Marshal Uko Ebong, ordered that a smaller presidential jet, 5N-FGW, which conveyed the Vice-President to the state be brought to fly Jonathan.

Jonathan disembarked from the faulty jet at about 3.30pm and quickly moved to the smaller aircraft.

He later left the airport in the smaller aircraft at about 3:35pm, leaving behind some of his co-occupants in the bigger jet.

Sambo also had to join Mark in another smaller presidential jet, 5N-FGV, which had earlier conveyed the Senate President to the state. Senator Barnabas Gemade and a few other dignitaries also joined them.

Those who were with the President in the faulty aircraft before they disembarked included the National Chairman of the PDP, Adamu Muazu; Chairman of the party’s Board of Trustees, Tony Anenih; former chairman of the party,  Ahmadu Ali; former  Sokoto State Governor, Attahiru Bafarawa, and some presidential aides.

At the time of filing this report, engineers were still battling with the faulty jet on the tarmac in the deserted airport while officials of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria were seen taking notes.

Some security men were left behind to keep watch on the aircraft.

When asked for what was wrong with the aeroplane, an official of FAAN simply said, “The return engine refused to pick.”

Another source who pleaded anonymity, said the hot temperature in the city led to the fault.

“What the commander said was that the high temperature affected the engine of the aircraft,” he said.

When asked why the hot weather did not affect the two other presidential jets, the source explained that the Air Force 001 is “more digitalised than others.”

The incident occurred despite the fact that in the past four years, at least N48bn has been allocated to the Presidential Air Fleet, a range of 11 luxurious aircraft which are at the disposal of the President.

According to the 2014 Appropriation Bill presented to the National Assembly by President Goodluck Jonathan through the Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, in December 2013, a total of N4.91bn was earmarked for the Presidential Air Fleet.

For the maintenance of the 10 aircraft currently in the Presidential Air Fleet, N1.52bn was allocated.

This was apart from the N747m earmarked for the purchase of aviation fuel for the aircraft already in the fleet.

The government earmarked the sum of N2.66bn for other expenses on the PAF, including international trainings for the fleet’s personnel, rehabilitation/renovation/repairs of the PAF Barracks, completion of a hangar project, tyre bay tools and equipment, insurance premium, cleaning and fumigation services, 797 units of LG 2HP air conditioners for the PAF Barracks and refreshment and meals.

For the year 2013, a total of N7.5bn was allocated the Presidential Air Fleet, while in 2012, N15.6m was allocated for personnel costs; N969m for overheads, which included spare parts, checks, aviation fuel; and N16.8bn was allocated for a brand new plane for the presidency.

In 2011, an N18bn allocation to the PAF was tucked under a N105bn budgetary allocation to the “Intelligence Community.”

Also, in the 2010 proposal, the Presidency had proposed the acquisition of four new aircraft for the presidential fleet and had made a budget provision of N23.4bn in that budget for them.

Experts have put the combined estimated value of the 10 planes in the presidential fleet at about $390.5m (N60.53bn).

50 armed men invade Enugu Govt House, 1 killed and 3 arrested

Armed attack by about 50 young men on Government House, Enugu in the early hours of yesterday was repelled by security operatives attached to the state seat of power.
There was heavy shooting by the security operatives comprising policemen, men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, and soldiers who prevented the assailants from gaining entry into the official residence of Governor Sullivan Chime.
One of the invaders was shot dead, three arrested while others escaped. Several machetes were recovered from them.
Although the mission of the young men, who were said to be armed with machetes and carrying flags with different inscriptions and insignia belonging to some secret cults, was unknown, an eyewitness said they arrived the Government House at about 4.30 am in buses.
They reportedly parked their vehicles and marched to the Government House gate where they met security operatives.
The attackers were said to have told the security men to open the gate claiming they were at the Government House on protest, but when one the NSCDC officials opened the gate to ask why they decided to come in the night, one of the invaders attacked him with machete and tried to force the gate open for his colleagues to go in.
This attracted other security operatives in the Government House who rushed out only to see many of attackers carrying machetes and were giving orders to their colleagues to move into the Government House.
The Chief Security Officer to Chime, Mr. Fidelis Ogarabe, DSP, who rushed to the scene after he was alerted by his men, immediately took control of the situation as the security operatives repelled the invaders after hours of shooting.
The security operatives pursued the assailants from the Government House premises into the Independence Layout. It was in the process that three of the attackers were arrested while another was shot dead.
The Chief Press Secretary to Governor Chime, Mr. Chukwudi Achife, confirmed the attack, yesterday, saying vigilant security personnel attached to the Government House Enugu early this morning foiled an armed attack on the Government House.”
Achife narrated further: “The attack occurred when at about 4.30 am a group of young men numbering about 50 and carrying machetes and cutlasses invaded the Government House and tried to force their way in.
“The attackers were immediately engaged by the security personnel who shot dead one person and arrested three. One security personnel was injured in the attack.
The governor’s spokesman added that the arrested persons along with some of the weapons recovered (matchetes) have since been handed over to the Enugu State Police Command for further investigations.
Meanwhile, the three suspects who were taken to the New Haven Police station were later transferred to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad office along the Enugu–Onitsha expressway.
The three suspects, sources said, identified themselves as natives of Aguleri, Anambra East. Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Shakira's Boyfriend Gerard Pique Doesn't Allow Her to Make Music Videos With Men, "He's Very Territorial"

Shakira's hips don't lie -- but only around women! In Billboard magazine's new cover story, Shakira has admitted that her boyfriend Gerard Pique doesn't allow her to make music videos with men anymore.

"He's very territorial, and since he no longer lets me do videos with men, well, I have to do them with women," the 37-year-old singer says in Billboard's March 2014 issue. "It's more than implied in our relationship that I can't do videos like I used to."
"It's out of the question -- which I like, by the way," she added. "I like that he protects his turf and he values me, in a way that the only person that he would ever let graze my thigh would be Rihanna." (Shakira and Rihanna, 26, recently released a music video for "Can't Remember to Forget You," in which they cuddle together while scantily-clothed.)
