Golden Globes Awards 2015 Nominees: See Stars Who Got Snubbed

Surprises and snubs -- awards season is upon Us! The 2015 Golden Globe Awards nominees were announced Thursday, Dec. 11, and there were several big snubs including Angelina Jolie's Unbroken, Clint Eastwood's American Sniper, Christopher Nolan's Interstellar, and the most popular show on TV, The Walking Dead. Here, are  five candidates who were snubbed among this year's nominees

1. Bradley Cooper, American Sniper

The two-time Oscar nominee, 39, was left off this year's best actor lists, in favor of Steve Carell (Foxcatcher), Benedict Cumberbatch (The Imitation Game), Jake Gyllenhaal (Nightcrawler), David Oyelowo (Selma), and Eddie Redmayne (The Theory of Everything). Cooper explained to The Hollywood Reporter in a recent interview that he didn't think he was right for the role. "At that time, I didn't really think, honestly, that I was right to play Chris [Kyle], but it was the only way that I was gonna get the movie produced," he admitted.

The Clint Eastwood-helmed film was also left off the list of nods for Best Motion Picture Drama, Director, and Screenplay categories

2. Interstellar

Bad news, Batman. Christopher Nolan's epic space adventure starring Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway was also snubbed across the board with the exception of a single nod for Best Original Score in a Motion Picture.

3. Unbroken

Ouch. The buzz surrounding director Angelina Jolie's film adaptation of Louie Zamperini's life story did nothing to help the World War II story in this year's Golden Globes. The Christmas Day-released flick, as well as actor Jack O'Connell, were both left off the list.

4. The Walking Dead

Though the show is TV's highest in terms of ratings, those numbers did nothing to help the AMC series land a nod in the Best Television Drama Series category. Instead, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association selected Showtime's The Affair, PBS' Downton Abbey, HBO's Game of Thrones, CBS' The Good Wife,
and Netflix' House of Cards

5. Modern Family

Where's the love this year? After years of dominating the Best Television Comedy Series category, the beloved ABC comedy was left off 2015's list of nominees. In its place, two web shows, Netflix' Orange Is the New Black and Amazon's Transparent, joined HBO's Girls and Silicon Valley for a chance to land a Globe.

Additional candidates that were left off this year's list include FX series Sons of Anarchy, which ended its run this week, as well as Matthew Weiner's Mad Men, which still has one more opportunity to redeem itself in 2016.
