Movie Star, Emile Hirsch checks into rehab after assault charge

Do you remember the movie "Girl next door star"?, The star of the 2004 movie, Emile Hirsch has taken a big step in working on himself.

The actor, 29, has entered rehab following news that he’s being charged with assault, according to E News, the “Milk” star allegedly attacked a woman at Tao nightclub during the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, on Jan. 25.

“The facts that I can relay are that he consumed an enormous amount of alcohol on the evening in question and he doesn’t have any memory of what happened at the time of the allegations,” his attorney, Robert Offer, told Page Six.

“However, Emile takes these allegations very seriously, and is devastated that any of this has occurred. A few days after the incident, Emile sought help and checked himself into an alcohol rehabilitation facility, where he remains today, to ensure nothing like this ever happens again. Emile is continuing to cooperate fully with authorities.”
According to the legal complaint, Hollywood exec Daniele Bernfeld says she was choked by the harassing actor, who labeled her a “rich kid” at the onset of the confrontation.
“Shortly thereafter Hirsch came up from behind Bernfeld and wrapped his arm around her to put her in a chokehold,” Bernfeld stated in the documentation. “Hirsch pulled Bernfeld across the table and onto the floor, where he landed on top of her. While Hirsch was on top of Bernfeld he wrapped his hands around her neck. Bernfeld said she felt as though the front and back of her throat were touching and she remembers things going dark. Bernfeld reported that she may have momentarily blacked out.”
In the report, Hirsch acknowledged his “verbal confrontation” with Bernfeld and said he had “three to four alcoholic beverages” at the club.

If convicted of third-degree felony aggravated assault, he faces up to five years in prison along with a $5,000 fine. As for the misdemeanor intoxication charge, he could receive up to 90 days in the slammer and pay a $750 fine.

Requests for comment from Hirsch’s agent were not immediately returned.
